A question that comes up from time to time is how to handle music that runs longer than six pages. The good news is that you don’t need to revert to cardboard and tape.
Depending on the length of the piece, a small number of page turns may be needed—but still far fewer than with traditional setups.
How to set up a piece of music up to 10 pages long. (Watch video above or see steps shown below.)
Step-by-step setup
Place pages 1-3 in the trifold on your left.
Pages 4 and 5 (back-to-back) into one single sheet protector.
Put pages 6 and 7 (back-to-back) into a second single sheet protector.
Place pages 8-10 in the trifold on your right.
How page turns work
Play pages 1-4.
Turn the first single sheet protector once to reveal pages 5 and 6.
Turn the second single sheet protector to reveal pages 7-10.
Variations
9 pages—outermost pocket on the right trifold can be left empty or folded back
8 page—use one single sheet protector between the left and right trifolds.
Viewing tip
To bring outer pages into better viewing range, slide the binder back and forth by grasping the rings.
When to consider other options
This approach works well for even longer pieces—but if the page count keeps growing, it may be time to consider a different solution, such as a dedicated page-turner, or a digital option like an iPad Pro.
